THE IMPORTANCE OF ḤADĪTHS OF LEGAL RULINGS:
Among the ḥadīths are those which address legal rulings (aḥkām
fqhiyyah). Due to this, the scholars of ḥadīth began authoring works
that focus specifically on the ḥadīths related to rulings, in order to make
it easier for the jurist (faqīh) to return to the proofs in the chapters
of jurisprudence—preserving the religion and the Islamic creed, and
protecting against the errors that result from paraphrasing narrations
by meaning.
Thus, they abbreviated their chains of narration (isnāds) and focused
on preserving their exact wordings.
