About the book:
And it is known that every believer has a basic level (Aṣl) of fear of Allāh through piety (Taqwā), for whoever does not fear Allāh is not a believer. The believer, even if sinful, has within him a foundation (Aṣl) of fear. But complete fear (of Allāh) is only for the people of knowledge, as indicated in this noble verse.
At the forefront of the scholars are the Prophets and Messengers of Allāh, peace and blessings be upon them. For Allāh, the Most High, chose them and selected them above others with His Message. They are the most fearful of Him, the most mindful of Him, and the most knowledgeable of Him, Glorified and Exalted is He.
The most pious of them are the five of firm resolve (Ulī Al-ʿAzm): Nūḥ, Ibrāhīm, ʿĪsā, Mūsā, and Muḥammad (peace and blessings be upon all of them). They possess the most significant share of fear (of Allāh) and piety above others.
And the most fearful among the five of firm resolve are the two Khalīls (i.e., close friends of Allāh): Ibrāhīm and Muḥammad, peace and blessings be upon them. The most fearful of the two, the most pious of them, and the most knowledgeable of Allāh is our Prophet, our leader, and our example, Muḥammad (peace and blessings be upon him). After him comes his forefather Ibrāhīm (peace and blessings be upon him), then Mūsā, the one spoken (directly) to by Allāh (peace and blessings be upon him), then the rest of the five of firm resolve, then the rest of the Messengers, then the Prophets, then the Ṣiddīqūn (the truthful ones).
