A Structured Guide to recovering from Complex Trauma

Survivors Anonymous

by Tania Brown

Survivors Anonymous is a trauma informed guide for those recovering from domestic and family violence.
It reframes survival responses as adaptation, not weakness, and unpacks the patterns that keep people stuck, long after the relationship ends.
This is a pathway from confusion to clarity. And once you understand, everything begins to change.

About The Book

Survivors Anonymous is a trauma-informed recovery framework for those who have lived through domestic and family violence and are ready to understand what happened—and why it stayed.

This is not a book about weakness.
It is a book about adaptation.

Blending lived experience with psychological insight, Survivors Anonymous reframes trauma responses not as flaws, but as intelligent survival mechanisms shaped by repeated exposure to harm. It explores coercive control, trauma bonding, nervous system conditioning, and the patterns that keep people stuck long after the relationship has ended.

Through a structured, step-based model inspired by recovery frameworks, this book offers a pathway out of confusion and into clarity—without shame, without blame, and without oversimplification.

If you have ever asked:

Why did I stay?
Why can’t I let go?
Why does it still affect me?

This book will help you understand.

And once you understand, everything begins to change.

Tania Brown is a Specialist Trauma Practitioner based in North Queensland

With a background in psychology and years of frontline experience working with people impacted by trauma, domestic and family violence, addiction, and complex life circumstances, as well as her own lived experience, Tania Brown brings something new to the arena. She doesn’t do surface-level explanations. Her work cuts straight through confusion, breaking down trauma, coercive control, and behavioural patterns in a way that actually makes sense—without shame, without blame, and without pretending it’s simpler than it is. Drawing on both lived experience and professional insight, Tania challenges the narratives that keep people stuck, helping them understand not just what happened, but why it affected them the way it did. Because once you understand that, everything changes.
