Kal was born and raised on Bailey Island, Maine in a family of many generations of local lobstermen. His studies took him overseas where he earned his dual British/American BA/BFA at Regent's University London, England. He has been back in Maine from "away" since 2008 and works from his home office on Orr's Island as a an illustrator. He draws artistic inspiration from his many travels, as well as the iconic scenery and local charm of his home town. Kal hand draws all of his work using Apple Pencil in Procreate on iPad Pro, and hates “AI art” with every fiber of his being.
