“This book began as a daily email I wrote to my eldest son, who wanted to grow in his understanding of God. Others joined the email list and began receiving each day’s devotional as well. Somewhere along the way, I felt led to further develop those writings and gather them into a small book, one that could be easily carried and accessed whenever encouragement was needed. I’ve dedicated this book to my son, Zach, whose desire to know God more deeply inspired it all. My prayer is that these pages will be a blessing not only to him, but to everyone who reads them. ”

James and his high school sweetheart, Christi, make their home in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Together, they have three children and their spouses—Zach (Lindsey), Austin (Matt), and Chloe (Dylan)—as well as six beloved grandchildren: Ella Grace, Kash, Hadley Kate, Addi James, Eli, and Tate. After completing seminary and serving as the pastor of two churches, James transitioned into the Oil & Gas Industry, where he continues to work today. He has a passion for old things, especially trucks and cars, enjoys getting lost in a good book, and is a lover of people.
